Hey folks-

Just wanted to get in touch to let you know about some great things that are unfolding. From writing and getting ready to record a new full length record, a fall tour with Ten Out of Tenn and some local shindigs, I've got my hands full. Here's what's going on...

TEN OUT OF TENN FALL FALL TOUR (ALL SHOWS GO ON SALE JUNE 24th):

I will be going back out with Ten Out of Tenn in September. This tour is one of my favorite things to do. It gets better with each tour.  This run will include myself, Katie Herzig, Jeremy Lister, Trent Dabbs, Butterfly Boucher, Tyler James, Andrew Belle, Amy Stroup, Gabe Dixon & K.S. Rhodes. Mark your calendars and spread the word!  More info can be found on the Ten Out of Tenn website.

These shows have a tendency to sell out, so be sure to order tickets in advance! There have been too many times where people are turned away at the door and I don't want that to happen to you! Also, while you're at the show, be sure to get the new Ten Out of Tenn compilation disc that features my previously unreleased song "Home".

THIS WEEK IN NASHVILLE:

If you are in Nashville be sure to tune in to Lightning 100 this Friday, June 24th at 1:00 PM for a live in studio interview and performance I'll be doing with fellow artist Amy Stroup to promote our show at Musicians Corner this Saturday afternoon in Centennial Park. For those outside of Nashville you can listen in on-line. Tune in.

ABOUT THE NEW RECORD:

Over the last couple years, I have been writing and gathering ideas for my next record. It's been 3 years since my last proper full length record (Swallow the Sea) and it's high time I get to work in the studio. I have been very intentional about how I'm setting up this next record to bring out the very best of every aspect. I'm pulling in some good friends (who also happen to be some of the best musicians I know) to play on this record. There's going to be a lot of love going into this album.

The first week of August we're leaving our beloved town of Nashville and heading for the dry plains of Texas (I know, Texas in August is slightly insane…but we can take the heat). There is a studio in Round Top, TX about 70 miles outside of Austin that is going to provide us an inspiring environment to create around the clock. I can't be more excited about this.

HOW YOU CAN BE A PART (A HUGE PART):

So, I want to invite you to be a part of the process. I'm going to do a Kickstarter campaign for this record (to learn more about Kickstarter, check them out here).

I have always funded my records independently (with no record label). Nowadays, it is the people who are empowering artists to keep making music more than ever. I love the idea of inviting fans into the process of making a record happen. In a big way, it makes me feel a greater sense of responsibility to offer my very best work. I think that's good pressure.

I will be launching this campaign next week, so stay tuned as I'll be sending along a link to my Kickstarter campaign page then.

Thanks so much for reading along!

Be well,

mpj
